It's never a good time to migrate and less so when people are forced to be away from the office so you should read up on this first. I can still use the iOS DS cloud app if I need even though all other agents, apps, and server are the newer Drive ones. Synology Drive server package replaces Cloud Station on the NAS but it is still using the same underlying mechanisms/ports and Cloud Station agents and apps still work with Drive server. One thing I haven't tested is how sub-folder permissions are handled by Drive as I have no need for these to be different than those inherited from the shared folder. I'm 99% sure I've remembered this correctly maybe 98%. Those DSM users/admin that have read/write also have read/write via Drive and those with DSM read-only have Drive read-only.

I know a service such as Dropbox for business has this feature, however it's £10/user/month.which imo is too expensive to roll out to even 10-15 users, let alone even more. We would also ideally like a popup notification to be presented to the user when they attempt to open a file locked for editing, preferably also informing them of who has the file open. One requirement is we must avoid conflicting changes when opening/ saving files across all users so if one user has a document open for editing we do not want to allow another user to open the same document for editing regardless of whether they are working locally or remotely. We will be hosting shared folders on there for users to store and access Microsoft Office documents, these documents will need to be accessed by both internal users (on the same LAN as the Synology drive server), and also be accessed by remote users and home workers. We are looking for a file sharing/ backup solution and would like to implement a Synology system as it has many of the features we are looking for with regards to data backup/ redundancy etc.
